At least I am doing the breaststroke now instead of just treading water!
Hi All,
I am so busy with getting ready for Saturdays show, that I barely have time to sit back and take a deep breath. I enjoy it though.
Muti-tasking at it’s best, Baby!!!
Yesterday alone, I canvased neighborhoods and handed out our small coloured flyers, stapled posters on telephone poles, drew out and glued glitter to 5 posters which we will put up Friday, soldered hoops to necklace pendants, drew out a floor plan, returned and made phone calls to our Vendors, drew up our door prize entry ballots to be photocopied, packaged up two of my cushion covers to be shipped to England (including the one I painted on HGTV’s That’s Clever) etc.. oh yeah.. and I dyed my hair.
Today,… I will spend time at a photocopier, paper cutter, post office, then paint two large (3′x6′) canvas banners to be hung outside of the Sullivan Hall on Saturday with spot lights shining on them, polishing and packaging up my necklace pendants, hopefully finishing up a few of my tote bags, etc. I think I might enjoy a Gin and Tonic around 8:30pm (ha ha… yah right!)
I have attached a few pictures for you to get a glimpse of my daily creations/duties and to tease you and get you ready for shopping on Saturday!

See you Saturday!
Keep smiling and creating,
Nicci
Each week seems to be getting more hectic than the last… hectic, but fun
Creative Finds:
I am now down to only looking for 6-8 more vendors for the Creative Finds Art and Fine Craft Market. We have met our quota for jewelry and handbag designers. Funny thing is…. no holiday ornaments yet. We had our Open House/Jury event last Sunday. Unfortunately the weather was atrocious with heavy rain and unpleasant winds. A few came out, but most just emailed me regarding their applications. Ever day since has had a forecast for rain, but has been quite lovely. Go figure, hey? ha ha
A Treasure in the mail:
The mermaid showing you your refection in her mirror is a wonderful creation sent to me by my Glitter Sister Craftyhala. We participated in a ‘Mermaid Swap’ through Artist Violette’s message board.
I just love my mermaid! She is made of polymer clay and is attached to the front of a funky wooden holder. I think I may use her to hold my envelopes. As you can see… my Catscratch softy seems to be quite taken by her (ha ha).
Thanks Craftyhala!

Creative Supplies:
Another Glitter Sister, Sioux is trying her hand at fabric painting and wanted to know what paint brushes I used. I use the same brushes as when I do my acrylic paintings. I have always been a fan of the ’smaller’ brush and find the big ones over powering and quite clunky. I like my shaders & spotters, etc.
The other photo is of new goodies I bought yesterday from a local stained glass supply shop. These will be used to create more of my ‘Girlz’ soldered pendants.
Well I am heading off now to go revive the pink in my hair. Have a great night!
Keep smiling and creating!

New EVENT on my art calender:
For those of you in the area….
Annual Granville Island Ferries …
Garbage Can Art
Contest and Auction
Sunday, September 23, 2007
* The contest takes place in the open-air courtyard behind Granville Island Public Market, Vancouver, BC
* Artist check-in is at 10:30 am; artists start work at 11 am; work stops at 3 pm; judging is from 3 pm to 3:30 pm; auction begins at 3:30 pm.
This event really pushes creativity to incredible limits: from aluminum can to art extraordinaire! The annual Granville Island Ferries Garbage Can Art Contest and Auction gives 25 artists four hours to use a little… or a lot… of artistic license. Each artist makes over a galvanized garbage can into a work of art. Once transformed, the cans are auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting art therapy programs at BC Children’s Hospital.
In conjunction with my posting from Sept 9th….
Yeah! They printed my letter! (Click on image to view larger news clipping)
FYI: Tomorrow I will be taking a soldering lesson from my good friend Poppy, so that I may try my hand at making glass pendants of my girls. This is a project Poppy has suggested to me for over a year now. Thanks Poppy (aka Groovy Glass Girl)
Have a great weekend!
Keep smiling and creating!
